Got mine too. The salad and carrots will be used - not sure about the others. I've still got beans left from last year and I don't use a lot of basil (tried it last year but managed to kill it off over the winter!).

Can't make my mind up about the courgette. Will it grow OK in a pot? Does it take up a lot of space?

I guess most things will grow in a pot but they do need a lot of water so mght not be the best idea to be honest.

They grow a decent size (diameter).

there is some info on growing it in pots 30 cm minimum in the booklet
I have grow courgettes in containers, my only advice would be picks as big a container as you can find and make sure you water it regularly

Got mine today. Pots aren't ideal for courgettes. They need lots of water and like to trail. They will go happily on top of an old compost heap though.

I ordered mine but they aren't here yet. Hopefully the postman will have them on Monday :D I'll use the salad leaves and carrots... maybe have a go at the courgettes if I can find room.

I'm really late starting in the garden and only managed to get some tom seeds planted on Thursday :o Oh well we'll see how it goes, like last year... which turned out great for my first try :j

I grew courgettes (yellow ones) last year in a grow bag and it worked really well. Germinated the lil seeds on the window sill and then planted the 3 healthiest looking seedlings (of 5) out in a decent size grow bag and they cropped like crazy - very very satisfying!!!! I used the tomato fertiliser on them once a week about the time the flowers started appearing, pretty much cos I was out there doing the Tom's anyhow. I got so many I had to give them away! The plants to grow large and the leaves are huge so you need a fair bit of room so they can trail and do their thing but I say go for it, but in a grow bag rather than pot as not sure how they would cope trailing downward like that. HTH.

Mine arrived yesterday, much quicker than the 2009 delivery, so am well chuffed. I did get an email reminder but thanks Enrich all the same for prodding me into applying.
  • Can I suggest that all of you who are not going to use the seeds you receive donate them to a local school or to a charity shop.

Good call about any spare seeds, also worth remembering most seeds will keep really well year to year.
I planted some courgette seeds I got free in a mag last year only expecting say half to come up, but all sprouted lol.

Last year I also did some swaps of seedlings with friends and espcially with my Dad (he used to grow his own when I was little and we inspired him to get growing again in his retirement) whose hand slipped with the lettuces and he ended up with 22 seedlings all at the same stage lol. I gave him a few toms and some herbs to go with and got a few lettuce in return.

I got mine today too, then went back on the website and ordered some for my friend and Dad!
