Taking Sky TV to Germany

In germany you can receive most of Sky channels with their standard mini dish without much problems (I work in satellite broadcasting as an engineer). What will need to be done though is your dish being pointed very well but being an ex servicman there is always someone on station that can do this if not for a small fee. Like the rest have said keep the payments up to date and DO NO TELL SKY0

Yes you can. Dont tell sky, you can get all of the channels including regional. Just set it up as normal and mess with the dish. Look at all the other squaddies dish so you can align it. Happy viewing. PS dont tell sky0

As an aside, also change your subscription so you are only paying for what you can get.
Not been to Germany since 1997 but we took the UK address registration route and all was fine. Note that you can't normally attach dishes to building etc so the fixing pole route will probably be your best bet. You may even be able to buy something before you go if you know where you will be quartered.
I had little stubby pole with a 3 point base that now resides on the top of my garage having never been used since. Used to stand on the balcony of the flat we were in.0 -
in germany youll pick up all the subbed channels as you would here in UK with the normal mini dish. If installing yourself grab a 'sat finder' just plugs into the line to help align the dish alot quicker than shouting through the wind "hows the strength now"
Keep it registered to a UK address, pay direct debit and youll be fine. Dont mention to sky about it and dont have multi room as this needs to be plugged in to landline otherwise you dont need it.
I had my dish out there but as a singley so was on a cam pole) i think without it BFBS would of done my head in.

This website - http://www.brittany-satellites.com/astra_footprint.php will tell you what Sky channels you will receive in the area, and what size dish is needed.
BFBS isnt that bad, its all we have out here, until we find out whats going on.

I have Sky set up in my married quarters, and all I had to do was changed my address to my parents address in the UK and bring the Sky box across with me. Nearly all the MQ in our area have dishes set up already, so all you have to do is plug it into the wall and switch it on. We haven't connected it to a phone line as this would be a german number and may cause them to query it.
Hope this helps.0
