Sky picture a bit fuzzy on new telly

Hi, I've just bought a new 42" HD ready lg tv for bedroom. I have always watched sky + in the bedroom through a magic eye no problems, however with new telly when I've plugged the magic eye in the sky is a bit fuzzy watchable but fuzzy. The freeview channels that come with the telly are perfectly clear but sky is grainy. Any help would be fantastic

Cheers

  • You really need a separate receiver in the bedroom which is capable of sending (at least) an RGB signal to your TV.

At the moment the signal is RF, which is a much lower quality. Your new TV, not least because of its screen size, will accentuate any poor type signals.

You say you have Sky+ downstairs. This means that your LNB has four outputs, two of which are spare. Connect a satellite cable from there to your new box.

I would recommend a Freesat HD receiver, or a 'proper' HD satellite receiver, such as a Technomate. These will give you free to view channels. If you continue to want pay TV in your bedroom you will need to contact $ky and ask them for a multiroom subscription, which will cost you an extra tenner a month, plus whatever they are charging for installation this week. You would also need both boxes to be connected to a phone line.

  • Did anyone spot my deliberate mistake? I, of course, meant free to air, not free to view. Additionally, an HDMI cable would be needed for HD channels.

  • I had this problem, my Sky HD feeds 4 Tv's using a magic eye's, Sky transmits the signal over a UHF channel, try changing channel in the Sky settings.

If the picture is the same, then it will be the 42" TV upscaling the analogue signal badly, you will need to adjust the TV's "picture noise" settings.
