Building work & related legals

Thank for the reply, it's getting a bit clearer now, (I think?)
The builder has been given an extension of time to late August to fix the work.
The next hearing will be after that in order to see what the situation is. I don't know the system in your area, but here you could get a different judge at the next hearing. It sounds like your friend's solicitor (the customer's) needs to be fully briefed and armed with all possible information to refute anything the builder comes up with. Especially if he has been "economic" with the contents of letters and the like. I would also get everyone back to re-inspect whatever work he does to report on the state of it, or get someone back (Building Control?) to confirm in writing that nothing has been done. You then ask the judge at the hearing to allow you to get someone in to complete the work and charge it to the builder. I think if that's the way the proceedings go, you will then get another date for a further hearing to finish the matter. It all up to the judge to decide.A house isn't a home without a cat.

I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

I've just re-read this thread. Have I got this right? It's the builder that is suing for the money not the customer suing for the duff work?A house isn't a home without a cat.

Yes. The builder is suing for the money.0 -
So the customer is just defending the action, not counterclaiming? That explains it a bit more, especially in terms of selectivity of the builders letters etc.rkh001 wrote:Yes. The builder is suing for the money.A house isn't a home without a cat.
