AdrianHi - how much do you think it would cost for the Koni FSD on a 3 series BMW?
I found the forum thread: http://www.bmwland.co.uk/talker/viewtopic.php?t=48243&highlight=koni+fsd0 -
Would it be feasible to say that an Astra's 1.6 (56) is equivalent to a 1.8 from (52)?
The 318i is no ball of fire for performance, but being the lightest weight engine you can get in a 3 series it results in the most nimble sharpest 3 series going short of an M3. The 318i engine is solid, you might need to spend a bit of money any suspension components within the 2 year period your looking at. Around £400-£800 should cover that.
Nothing wrong with the Astra and the Mondeo is a darn fine car too.0 -
Fair enough everyone is entitled to their own opinions even if they're wrong
In all seriousness it is amazing the different reactions people have to different cars, i would say i think the opposite of most of the reviews posted on this thread, but it just goes to show their is no substitute for getting out there and having a go in one.
Good luck in your search OP.0 -

pwllbwdr - thanks for telling me the Golf and rover 75 are similar weights. Very interesting to know. However, in terms of driver experience, I guess the weight of a car is relative to it's engine power. The Rover 75 really did feel like a coach, especially when it came to stopping and starting in traffic. This could be due to weak brake pads (though the dealer said they were fine). Even when turning around bends, it generally seemed cumbersome. I felt the power steering was significantly underpowered. Driving around town would itself be a lot more uncomfortable, with the amount of effort required to steer this thing!
I would never have guessed that the Golf was the same weight though.
The 1.8 R75 is rather underpowered, yes. Brakes though should be very good. The steering issue is a tricky one - many people find over-assisted steering lacking in feel.0
