This website http://www.thebridalartists.co.uk/directory.htm was recommended on our works' intranet - I've never used it, so I can't vouch for any of the info on there - but it might help some of you/?

We must have been lucky then, cos I paid £30 for our hair trial (4 of us!!!) and our make up trial was included in the final price of £80 ish.

If anyone is in Gloucester, I can give you the details and save you a fortune..!!

Making that tiara will be a piece of cake. And cost at most £20 - £25 if not less.

Here is one i made, having NEVER ever made anything jewellery related. It took me an hour.

Look on ebay for the bits required.
Tiara base / alice band, about £1-2
    24 gauge wire, About £3
Pearls, Price varies dependant on quality
swarovski crystals - i hugely reccomended ruby's crafts - she supplies me with all my crystals at a bargain price.

To make it slightly easier to make for the beginner i would reccomend getting diamantee sprys if you dont think you have the skills to twist the wire and glue the diamonds on yourself.

PM me if you want anymore info.

I have also just made the svarovski crystal flowers for my bouquet - i'll take a pic in a minute. theres nearly 400 crystals in each flower.

  • thanks for the hair and make up links but still to dear for me am in surrey, will start calling local hairdressers soon thanks for the help x
  • Hi everyone, thanks for all your replies and ideas. I tried looking for other quotes and found one who quoted about £45 for hair and make up trial and £60 on the day, so thats cheaper than the hair. I have got some other numbers to ring too.

Princesswoo - your tiaras look great, I have been thinking about making it but not sure I have the time or patience, will look on ebay.

Shoes - fillipa scott ones do look quite nice and I am sure i can stretch my budget for a more comfy pair especially if they are pretty too !! Now need to see if I can find some in a shop to try before i order online.
I am in Essex if anyone can recommend hair and make up people !!! :A
We got married 17th April 2010 !! A wonderful day with my wonderful husband !! :T

Does anyone know of any hair and makeup artists in Edinburgh? I have also been finding prices ridiculously high. I do want someone who will come to the house though as the thought of going out to get it done on the morning of the big day does not appeal! Thanks!
