  • How are you guys finding hair and makeup so cheap?! All the quotes I've been getting are way more than that!

I still need face, hair and flowers. Got two florists to speak to in the next couple of weeks so hopefully that will be sorted soon. I hate my indecisiveness!

    Are you trying mobile hairdressers/beauticians??

You could try being cheeky and saying "Blimey, that's a lot for a bit of slap/hairspray" and see if they come down a bit...!!
Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??

  • Mostly googling 'wedding hair/makeup liverpool'

    I know, add the W-word...

I want to see what they do before I let them loose on my face and a lot of the mobile ones don't have pics in the internet. Also I'm paranoid they're going to turn me orange...

yeah, I know what you mean.....are there any wedding fairs near you soon??
Mobile beauticians will often have a portfolio for you to look at to give you confidence that they know the difference between "Natural" and "Sunny Delight"...!! x

I have found all the mobile hair/makeup bill are a lot mroe expensive than my local salon.
Was quoted £75 for hair & another £75 for makeup - for just me, by mobile hair/makeup person.
    My local hairdressers quoted £30.
Haven't got round to investigating makeup yet but apparently there's another hairdressers in town that do hair & makeup - so i'm off there this weekend for a chat with them .....

  • I would really recommend the pre trial trial, do it months in advance and treat it like and interview, if you don't like what you get you choose someone else! If you explain that's what it is you might get it for a tenner or so!
I have found my lady for make up because she does my other waxing. And she is recommending the hair lady.

...I have found my lady for make up because she does my other waxing...

This is the same for me - £50 for trail and coming to me on the day.

Am using a different stylist in my regular hairdressers (my usual chap doesn't do wedding hair!)

Have you looked on Ebay for your tiara? There are loads on there!
  • Hiya

This is where I hang my head in shame lol.

My tiara cost £125!! Its the only thing that i'v gone mad on, everything else for our wedding is MSE but i fell in love with it. It sparkles like the cheapers ones I saw disn't seem to so I splashed out on it. I even had a sleepless night over it because I knew its was stupidly expensive, in the end I bought it out of my wages and not our wedding budget - This meant I didnt feel guilty!

I know its not answering your questions but I wanted to tell you my guilty secret :-)

My hair and makeup is costing £190 for the trial and on-the-day so not much less than yours (which is £230 in total, right?) I'm in London though so not sure if this makes a difference. I didn't shop around much but the websites I looked at seemed to suggest prices of around £300 (e.g. on this website : http://blush.uk.com/prices.php )
Didn't think of looking for mobile beauticians. Too late now though as I've had my trial and really liked what she did.

What's your budget for the shoes? Filippa Scott's sale site http://shop.filippascott.com/catalog/products.php
has some nice ones for around £60 to £90. I just received mine today and they've got really nice soft suede padded cushions at the heel and toe. I wanted to get good quality shoes as I tried some on in Aldo, Faith etc and didn't think I'd be able to wear them for an hour far less a whole day!
