Orange slow but use Google Namebench to speed it up

I switched to Orange from O2 and I have to say for me it is slower.
Orange's email servers don't respond, quite shocking really.
The problem is their email and DNS servers are being hammered, and they just don't have the infrastructure to cope with it. Especially 6-9pm.
So by using Google's email servers, and non-Orange DNS servers, I found my Orange experience much improved.
If you use Google's Namebench test utility, it tells you the fastest DNS servers for you to change to. This is coming from Google, before you IT warriors take aim at me.

They recommended I change my primary DNS (easy in TCP/IP settings) to a non-Orange, with Orange as secondary and another as tertiary.
All I can say is it is faster.
---
Seconldy, redirect your Orange or other email to a googlemail account you created. Then in your email client change the incoming server to pop.gmail.com (port 995 and SSL/TLS) and your outgoing server to smtp.googlemail.com
I post this to point out that Orange's service as is stands is unacceptable, but you can make it work by not using their email and DNS.
Thanks.
