Iphone on Orange upgrade?
Hi All,
I just got to my upgrade date and was wanting an iPhone but from what I can see there is no difference in the upgrade and a new contract!
Just wondered what deals you managed to get when upgrading for ammunition...
I currently pay £25 a month for 400 minutes and 300 texts.
Thanks in advance

Unfortunatly very little can be done.
Apple set the prices and tarrifs and the iphone sells without the need to discount it. You either pay the going rate or get a different phone.0 -
Yeah - I had to just do the upgrade to the iPhone, same as a new contract. There's no flexibility.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

I believe the upgrdes/retention system has been rigged so that nothing can be done on iPhone plans.
And as above, Apple dictate the price.0 -
Apple dicate the price to keep the image of their brand (not cheap etc)0

With an orange upgrade you can get your monthly bills a little bit cheaper than new customers. When you upgrade ask for your loyalty discounted to be put on which for the first year is 10% and an extra 5% off every year after that. I've got the max loyalty discount of 25% off and could have the iPhone on a £45pm contract for £33.75pm. Confirmed by my orange account online when clicking on the upgrade to iPhone option.0

Am I right in saying anyone in this situation is better off getting a "SIM-only" upgrade deal, making sure that internet is included in their tariff, then buying a Pay As You Go iPhone?
Over an 18 month period, an iPhone 3GS 16gb will cost £25/month on pay as you go (£450 overall)
However on contract, it works out at approximately £45/month when you take into account the price of the phone.
That means if you can get a contract for £20/month or less from the upgrades people, you'll be better off over an 18 month period. It's also more flexible, and the tariff is likely to be better.

Not really, PAYG Iphones are more expensive than the contract ones.
The £ 450 (£20 PCM) contract, Plus a Iphone at £343 3g or £440 3gs means the total cost over 18 months is £793 or £890.
Cheapest contract on 18 months is £30 a month, plus £99 for the 3g making £639 which equates to £35.50 a month.
£45 a month for 18 months and your still paying £89 for the phone, effectivly adding £4 to each months rental for the priveldge of the phone0
