Want broadband but no phoneline!

PETRA
When I lost my job, I had my phoneline disconnected to save money. Now I want broadband and wondered if anyone could advise me on the cheapest way to get it. All the companies offering broadband require you to have an existing phone line which costs around £11 per month line rental along with a connection fee. I know BT are currently offering free connection so I'm considering going to them.
I've tried mobile broadband (is it called a drongle?) that didn't need a phone line but it didn't seem to get much signal from my home so I had to abandon that idea
Any advice gratefully accepted!

Your only option is Virgin Media. But it depends whether you can get their digital services. Go to their website and enter your post code to find out.

Don't forget topcashback (or Quidco) if you sign up!0 -
Also don't forget Virgin Media without a phone line is more expensive (although not totally more ) than if you have a phone line with them.
It might work out cheaper to pay the £11 line rental and get a cheaper broadband package, like Plusnet's £5.99 or Be Value £7.50.
If you can get BT Basic (it's means tested) you can get broadband on that now, it might be a cheaper option.0 -
You can use a dongle for mobile broadband but you need to find out which provider has the best coverage/speed where you are.
This site is a PITA but will show what the mobile masts in your area do

You need UTMS for broadband speeds.0
