Train co Sent me someone else's tickets!
I'm obviously writing to the company as we speak. I ordered some tickets over the net the other day & today received the tickets belonging to someone else in my local area for different journeys altogether (they live about 5 miles away). I've never contacted this person in my life though.
The first ticket for travel is on 26 Feb so still a little way to go before they're needed. thankfully, my first travel date is at towards the end of april but i go on holiday in a few days so want this sorted out.
Not only do i have their tickets, but i also have their name, address and the last 4 digits of their credit card. This is an obvious Data Protection breach, but is there anything i can claim for in my letter by way of compensation? I expect my tickets have gone to someone else, possibly to this other person.
Am writing my letter now, so your advice on the compensation part would be useful.
Thanks to all

seriously, not a wind-up. Their number is not on Directory Enquiries.
regarding data protection - this i have this persons details (and someone probably has mine). My personal details are completely private & should not be shared with anyone without authorisation. So, i'm just trying to find out if there's any legal thing (or anything happened to anyone before...) about what happens in terms of compensating those affected because of a breach to the Data Proection Act. I'm just putting the feelers out....0 -
,all they did was send a letter to the wrong address,if its only 5 miles away drive over and see themI

Yes, if you were a really nice person you would take the tickets to them.
Good deedfor the day and you will feel good about yourself that you did them a good turn, especially if you dont ask for the petrol money when you get there.....
And personally, dont wind yourself up about the DPA, its not worth the hassle. Life's too short.
They made a little mistake sending it to the wrong address - so.............make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Data Protection my a**e Do you vet your Postman as he delivers mail? You have to! He may be reading your name and address!
I would suggest that maybe you get over yourself, realise that some booking clerk has had a bad day, phone the company and put it right (and maybe have a little grumble?_The World come on.....0 -

Oh, and perhaps the last four digits of your credit card number.
Can you put a value on this possible breach?
If so, write that in you letter.0 -
Just out of interest how much compensation do you feel you are entitled to? given someone knows your name and address?
hell, BT would be doomed if all you need for a breach of DP is someones name and address, they've been printing books of them for decades! And with phone numbers! :eek:Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
What a w@nker.:mad:All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0
