MAC Code Etc

Hi everyone , i am in the process of changing my ISP , i already have a MAC code .
However due to a bad credit rating the new Broadband account will have to be in my wife's name .
Can she sign up for the broadband using my Mac Code ?
Incidentally we was on an LLU package with Tiscali which consisted of Line Rental , Call package and Broadband .
We are moving back to BT for line rental and call package , BT said we have to transfer back the telephone line , this is being completed on 18th Feb (go live date they call it ), we are retaining our existing number .
I would have thought that if we are transferring back to BT from an LLU line then there would be no need for a MAC code as the line will not have a tag on it ?
However , 02 have informed us that we do need a MAC code .

I would also have thought that the MAC code wouldn't be necessary, but it doesn't do any harm to give it to BT.
I'm pretty sure that the MAC code applies to your line rather than to you as a person, so I don't think it makes any difference if your wife signs up.
Edit: I just found this link...it seems that it is a different sort of MAC code.

Correct. The MAC relates to the phone number, not whose name the account is in.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thanks for the replies guys
makes sense that it applies to the phone number and not the person , i don't fancy weeks or even a month or 2 of downtime trying to get sorted.
