I don't think I'll stay with this bank as I don't like the way the on-line statements are set out. I have complained about this. It's a weird system that is confusing. The account number system is also confusing with the extra digit at the beginning. The sortcode is not on the card.
Thats exactly what I think, Its confusing, you have to be on the ball to try and figure out if a DD has come out or is due to come out and if the money has already been taken out or is due to come out. I've been with them almost a year now, but Ive decided to move elsewhere.Comping again0 -

Nope, been with them for years and they have been excellent. Everytime my premier direct account runs its year term one quick phonecall they allow me another year at 6%. Referred loads of friends/family for the £25 incentive aswell. Staff in branch are fine and the one time i had to call they sorted the problem out straight away.
Stick to the rules, read the T&C's and you will be fine. If you dont, prepare to have to pay
Also is it just me or do a lot of people on here try and play these banks for the free money without doing their research etc? Just seems to be a lot of questions asked after the account has been set up.0 -
I too would like to know the answer to Rachie767's question. I switched my bank over at the end of last year and it really did go very smoothly indeed. I got the £100 really really quickly and have no complaints on that front.
However the length of time it takes to tranfer money is a real issue. At the minute I am juggling between 5 accounts, the money is tranferred instantly from the Halifax account but takes 4 days to reach it. The online statement is confusing, I can't tell if it includes stuff I have already tried to transfer from A&L or not.
I thought I would continue to use the A&L account if it was okay, but I really want to transfer my wages and the 2 direct debits I have back to Halifax for the convenience. If I already have the £100, is there anything stopping me doing this? I was feeling sort of bad for wanting to do this, but it's a bank, I'm sure they wouldn't think twice about screwing me.Debt £26k 18/10/140 -

I've sent my credit card statements to A&L and had my credit card charges refunded within 2 days! was previously with HSBC and this would never have happened with them, I'm overjoyed with A&L so far
It's been good for me too (so far, can't guarentee about the future of course).
Everything switched over fine, as soon as I had my account details I got the HR dept to change where my wages were paidProud to be dealing with my debts - LBM Mar 2010

I too have had a problem, was very confusing during the switch, made 2 calls to check all inorder and would check if i qualified for the £100 and was told yes, then received a letter telling me the promotion was not valid when i applied for the account?? I must have imagined it then! They said it was avial 4 days after i applied. Customer service agent implied i had followed an 'out of date' link from this website to a previous offer that was no longer valid. I have written to complain and awaiting a response.0

Neither myself or OH have had any problems getting £100 switching incentive (plus additional £50 each through cashback site) it has been straighforward with no problems.0

I have been with A&L for over a year now, got nothing bad to say about them. Yes their online banking is not as good as my Halifax account, doesn't update fast enough really. But once you get used to that, I have found it OK. I moved to A&L because of my circumstances where I had got myself in debt and was living in my overdraft, the Halifax were going to take quite a bit of money from me. They moved all of my DD's apart from one I think where I had a bit of trouble but a phone call put that right, I received my £100 from them no problem too. Now after a year I am paying them about a fiver a month in fees on my account but I dont mind that at all, I am sorting myself out and hopefully in 4 or 5 months they wont be getting anything! I know many people have had problems with them but just wanted to give my own experience really.Total Debt Oct 2008 [STRIKE]£12, 900[/STRIKE] Oct 09 [STRIKE]£12,232[/STRIKE] March 2010 [STRIKE]£11576[/STRIKE]July 2010[STRIKE] £11082[/STRIKE] MAY 2011 £9426
