:)hi,

i hope somebody can help me with some info about the landline line rental offers from both these companies.

https://www.itplc.com

https://www.postoffice.co.uk

1 are you able to use the 1899 or 18866 prefix codes(and any other prefix numbers) and route some calls through other networks or will they only alow calls billed throught here own network?

2 also are you able to sign up for another cps service while still paying the line rental to itplc or the post office?

thanks for any help and information anyone can give me especially from anyone that is using either of these companies at the moment!

cheers!

mike

As I understand it with itplc that is for line rental as well and very much against the T&C to use another CPS. From quickly reading the Post Office site they are a CPS and you would still be paying your line rental to BT.

If you are asking can you use them both together then the answer has to be no.

I saw something on TV the other day about the post office offering telephone services. It was only a brief report but I thought it meant that you paid them line rental and call charges and you can change to them from BT and therefore you will not have to pay BT as you will not then be connected to BT?
I am NOT a mortgage & insurance adviser - or anything to do with finance, that was put on by the new system I dont know why?!
  • Just had another quick look and you are right Trevor you do pay your line rental through the Post Office account but you DO have to have a BT line and it will still be a BT line. Line rental charges the same as BT just all on the one bill.

The mobile charges seem reasonable but the international are expensive and its going back to the old BT way of having three different time bands for charges. Thats what I like best about 18866 as I don't need to worry about working out the cheapest time to call taking in to account time differences.

  • Seems to be Trevor, but I have only flicked through the T&C's.

TalkTalk still seems to be the best option for CPS at the moment.

I have BT but a little box on my line routes my calls thro Tiscali and I get a monthly bill from them which isnt very much. I get calls like 0845 thro BT. Other half rings her mum quite a lot but that is after 7 and at weekends on her orange contract which we still have with OSPS which cost virtually nothing.

    ;D

Off out now have a good nite HIC (oops Ive had a head start)!

I also have a bar on international and premium rate calls. Its quite funny to watch the pop ups trying to dial the numbers! LOL
