Whenever a car salesman asks me if the tax is remaining in the car,my reply is

" does the car i'm buying come with tax included for free?"

You normally get an awkward smile and no reply.

Take the disc out and cash it in, dont remove any alloys, stereo's etc though.

  • We offer to buy the VED off the customer.

We always value the cars PLUS the roadtax and have everything written down.

And, yes its the customer who can only claim it, but we get them to fill in the claim for and sign it, so if we sell the car on, we can sell the disc and send the customer the money, or if we pass a mont hend, we send it into DVLa who then send the miney to the customer. That way no one looses out...
  • just brought a newish astra, the dealer quoted p/x based on the tax running out at the end of july, so just need to check on the deal
