Oh my goodness; I've just finished reading ALL 39 pages and I was happy to read you are changing your job; hopefully this job will fit in with your family life better. I am amazed at your determination and do not think you come across as moaning at all Just out of interest; if you did not make any more overpayments how many months would it take to pay off the mortgage?

Are you still thinking about going to the Maldives? We went last year and loved it. I would be happy to recommend the hotel we stayed in; it was amazing.

Peonie, I can't believe you've read it all in one hit!! I am glad I don't sound too moany :) You know what I get a bit annoyed when my mortgage statement comes through that it doesn't give me the term left on my mortgage it just says 'original term final payment november 2033', but if I work it out myself I guess I'd have to base it on paying off about £400 a month with my regular payment, providing the interest rate stayed the same in which case it would 'roughly be 100 months' but as every month the amount I knock off the balance I'm not sure how I could work this out exactly. I'd like the figure to be lower than that!!

Maldives, my favourite subject ;) we first went went by mistake (although I did secretly want to go) when mexico had hurricanes and our hotel cancelled and we switched to maldives last minute. I can still remember pulling up at the island I couldn't believe it the colours were amazing and since then we are hooked! We have basically switched holiday frequency so we can go to the maldives for the time being :). We went Meeru first time, then kuredu for our honeymoon and then chaaya dhonveli more recently as it was cheap and our daughter was free though it was less than ideal as she was just over 1 year, we've ended up going alternate years. As this next holiday was to be a big celebration our plan was to go to dubai for a couple of days so our daughter could see all the fish etc and then mirihi for 14days, its scarily expensive and I will never again pay this much for a holiday!!! Where did you go as ultimately we will go again to a different island so recommendations are always good :) The plan was after this to have another baby so I guess we'd probably go again when the baby was free and then I think we will probably head for florida and disney world.... I am happy to sacrifice quantity for quality as we have to get all the animals looked after etc and its a lot of worry especially now denzel has been ill but unfortunately it does mean we wait a while for these times away. We are decorating our bedroom all maldivian :) I will post a picture next decade when it is done ;) I am having some doubts about another baby I guess it depends how the new job goes.

Peonie I had a read through your diary but I was another computer and not signed in, I am hoping that I will get a bit more diary reading time now :)

Time is just flying... so I am currently in the 'left the old job but not started the new job' period where strictly speaking I should be having nearly 2 weeks off but instead I have filled this with extra shifts as I was worried I wouldn't get a job. Anyway I've done 2/5 night shifts and its gone ok, I have been applying some rules. 1- set a time for which I start thinking about work i.e. don't worry about it all day before going. My new job involves nights so I need to make this work for me or I will never be happy in my work! I have been packing early to go and pretty much now I have developed a 'night pack' so soon I can just keep this in the car and not have to sort things out every time. I have been setting myself a time at which to start thinking about work and to get ready i.e. 2 hours before so it doesn't impair the rest of the day, so far so good. 2- if i get some sleep that night and am not working the following night (which I'm not until my new job) try to stay up so I have some time in the day to myself to get stuff done, so far this has worked well, it means I get an early night the next night and then the following morning I can get up, I find normally i go to bed and am awake for ages then cannot get up in the morning. I feel if I spend all day in bed I am wasting my day unless I'm working the next day in which case I need to be fit!!

So other good things- I got a top up shop today £35, this means that we don't have to waste half a day shopping at the weekend. I will get to spend more time with the animals today. Denzel is in today for sedation to get his stitches out, he's doing well, So I will collect my daughter this afternoon to make it simpler. This is ultimately going to cost more money but hopefully not too much and hopefully his problems will be no more. As it stands he is a bit incontinent (at least he can go) my husband specified 'he would be keeping a close eye on this situation!!!!

To add to our list of broken things we own that we are too stubborn to pay out to repair or replace; microwave, kettle ( have to open with a spoon), fireplace (doesn't light), boiler is now temperamental- we will get this serviced next month- we will have to have a good session fixing these things once we are MF. Oh and we had a leak in the cloakroom the other day so we tapped it off and now we can't use the sink in there...

Finally if todays payment is through our sainsburys card now has a zero balance. That leaves us with 3 cards, ones that expire oct 2012, jan 2013 and feb 2013, Due to buying bricks etc mine is nearly maxed again so I have now applied for a halifax one and that is the final stoozing one I can do, i have seen my credit limit slowly rise also!! By my calculations, with my new job, these extra shifts etc I believe we will be MF end of august...OMG END OF AUGUST!!! we shall see, if so I will then clear these cards one by one ensuring no interest is paid and in the mean time my husband might get a couple to put this holiday on. If the job goes well I would like to have our holiday now in december to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary- if I'm allowed. If it doesn't go well I would like to stay at least 6months- 1 year or if not I think I will just keep on with all these shifts- infrequently!!

I think thats it, I have acquired another free disney dvd from the points but it won't accept some codes so now I have to contact them.... grrr

Well its officially payday friday! If All goes well I should have some extra commission in there, if not I expect I shall be chasing it forever from my old company...........

The Maldives was my dream honeymoon destination and I am happy we got to go there; we went all out and stayed at the Iru Fushi Resort and stayed in a water villa; look at glass panel in the floor.

I would like a Maldivian style bathroom, look at the horizon water villa photo 5th picture down, but I don't think our bathroom is big enough to do it justice. In fact the photo does not do the room justice. Our of shot is a second sink, a separate rain shower and a separate toilet.

Congratulations on bringing forward your MFW date.

OOOh we have looked at Iru Fushi before so I am pretty sure it is not a cheap one ;) The water villas look amazing, I know one resort we went to children couldn't go in water villas, I am kind of prepared for this rule but really I hope they allow it wherever we end up, we've done beach and water but water is really special. This is one of the newer ones isn't it? I couldn't get the link to work but I looked up the pictures, Our bathroom is tiny really we had to settle for a pebble effect and a water proof maldivian picture so if you're in the bath you can just imagine!! Thanks for that will definitely consider, we've always wanted mirihi but never done it so thats why it was first on our list but my husband is more keen to seek a cheaper one!!

  • Well we had £400 in xmas presents and that has gone off the mortgage so when we treat ourselves we will just do it on the card...
OOOh and payday and my commission came through (bit less than it should be by my calculations...but never mind its never quite what i think)and CB so £1400 paid off less than usual but obviously we paid off the card so balance is now £37690. My prediction after payment has come out will be £37480

Next month I should earn more thanks to these extra shifts and my new increased salary hoping I can get all my hours in next month! I am going to have a quick work out as to what I could be taking off the mortgage :)

    Challenges for 2012;

    Pay off Mortgage!!!!!!!!
    Pay off Barclaycard
Have or at least book an amazing holiday
    Finish shell of extension
Get husband to finish and pass his qualification

will wait and see how close we get on these targets :)
