I had a dreadful time with Santander, they were rude to the point of being abusive, they were calling me at work it was dreadful, they actually said that I had taken out the loan knowing I couldnt pay for it, Id had the loan over 2 years by then.
a nightmare

Good to know....!!!!
I have a credit card with the Santander mofo's with £5,500 maxed on it. I hope they dont have my work number, they can GTFO
I havent missed any payments so far just because it comes out payday (same as Barclaycard) - so these payments come out and I worry if my rent will bounce (it never did luckily), but anything after that point (ie Cahoot) ended up in arrears since I'd have to draw out money in a wad to pay for my living expenses/travel/food instead of covering a debt.
If all goes to plan, I should be declaring bankruptcy beginning End March/ beginning of April, which gives me time to raise the fees (hopefully I will also have surplus to cover my dental fees too.) So I'll have under about 2 months of being harassed.....still.......eeeekkk.
Just a thought - of the C.A.B. suggest something other than B/R - ie IPA, does that mean I cant petition?0 -
My OR told me that they werent published in the local paper any more
"phew":j0 -
The paper thing didnt bother me so much when I actually realised I didnt actually know any of my neighbours aside from the guy that runs the local pub......
I hadn't even heard of the London Gazette bankruptcy listings before looking into it myself. But the Insolvency Practioner made it sound like I was gonna be the new Kerry Katona :eek:0 -

No as long as you are insolvent, then you can still petition for BR .:pB&SC No. 298

Hi missmilkwood,
Don't pay any of your creditors while you save for bankruptcy fees, I moved my bank account and wage to coop and transferred all my direct debits except for my creditors - which i left with my original banks HSBC and Abbey. I sent them all a letter telling them i was seeking advice and that i'd be in touch in a month (I never contacted them again) but DO NOT MENTION BR as they'll probably harrass you even more. I ignored the phone calls, up to 15 per day for a couple of months and then they stopped. i just filed all the letters. It took a few months to save and once I went BR I haven't looked back. Chapter closed, job done in my opinion. If MP's and banks are going to get away with ripping me off then why should i struggle to survive for years on end probably killing myself with all the stress in the process!
My motto is I :heart2: BR!0 -
Thanks brokeinbristol! So reassuring!! I had another 3 calls from Santander last night, I can't believe how many a day I'm getting from one missed payment 2 wks ago (plus 2 emails.) On the upside I managed to get accepted Co Op Cashminder account last night (the customer services guy was so lovely and said the fact I was going bankrupt was 'absolutely fine'. Made me wonder why I hadnt banked with them before instead of Barclays!) Hopefully I'll get it next week so my end of months pay can go in. I missed C.A.B. opening time though, I am gonna make appointment this morning.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to my thread - I had a pleasant (non-panicky) evening last night since I had a better idea of what was ahead and the knowledge I will be much better off. Plus I rang my mum and told her and she was relieved - she's seen me struggling and being frugal to no avail, and has been telling me all along I would be better off going bankrupt.0 -
Just an update on my situation. I successfully opened a Cashminder account, and of end of Feb, my wages went into there. I transfered my direct debits over, and left the creditors there. So far, the calls from Cahoot are still around 4 a day (after only 2 payments), and literally just now I received a call (at work no less!) from Barclaycard with a very abrumpt man. I told him I would call back (I'm not!), this rude call comes just 6 days after my first missed payment from Barclarycard, my first ever! I did not give them my work number either, so there must have traced it through my statements. Honestly, I work in a small office - Mangement Dept, and I cannot be taken these calls in work. I'm a PA and have 3 lines coming through my phone so cannot ignore the calls. Is there anything I can do about this? This is only 6 days in with one missed payment, I absolutely cannot be contacted in work. They only called my mobile once and are now targeting my work number.
Anyone suggest anything?0 -
There is a letter floating around about stopping telephone calls. Hoping someone will post a link soon
Have you rang CCCS yet? Ring them. They will give you a reference number which shows they are helping you and your creditors are suppose to give you 28 days grace. In the meanwhile send them the letter recorded.0 -
