Dual sim card adapter

Hello,

I'm currently on Asda Mobile for calls and texts, but want to use Orange for Orange Wednesdays. I've noticed that there are a lot of listings on ebay for a bit of kit that lets you use two sim cards in one phone.

Has anyone had any experience of these? I was orginally looking for a little case to protect my orange sim card when it's not in use, but these seem to be a similar price and so less hassle....if it works.

Any advice appreciated!

My brother used one many moons ago, worked fine.

He switched between cards by switching the phone off and on.

Can you also buy phones that hold 2 sims as standard and there is no need to switch off/on to switch sims. It would also allow you to receive calls on either number on any day.

These kind of adapters work will well usually, but only IF they fit in the phone!
I used one successfully on an old Nokia 6210, but a lot of the newer phones around have SIMs that slide into place and have very little room to play with and you may find the adapter will not physically fit. This is the case with all my own current phones.

There is a "Mini iPhone" that can be found on eBay by loads of Sellers. it is a Chinese-made phone, made to look like a iPhone but smaller (but does not perform anything like one), but DOES have two SIM slots which are active at the same time. You can usually configure it to say which SIM should do what e.g., SIM2 will be used for data, SIM1 for outgoing Texts, SIM1 for outgoing calls, etc.
That part is very neat, and the phone looks nice, but web use is not great (which is why mine is back in the box after a few days of playing - wanna buy one ;) )
  • Thanks for the info, everyone. I've realised from the photos that I won't be able to use the adapter that holds two whole sims as it won't fit in my phone. I'm tempted to try the type which is only the size of a single sim, but has the cut-out metal bits of the two sims on it.

I'm only a light user, so it's not worth me buying a new phone, and I'd probably only be using the Orange sim on Wednesdays so switching phone off/on to swap sims won't be a big deal. It's just to save me hunting through my handbag each week and eventually finding it stuck to an Opal Fruit! :o
