Best Broadband - no LLU

A recent error by BT had meant my phone line was disconnected . So, this has meant my broadband has been ceased. I thought I'd use the opportunity to look around and see if I could get a cheaper deal. A visit to Sam knows has confirmed what I expected though - I live in the sticks and there is no LLU whatsoever at my exchange. I've tried a few websites which all promise great things until they actually check my phone number and then tell me the bad news!
Anyway, any recommendations. My last provider was Demon. Never had any problems with the service but they were quite expensive.
Thank you.

Plusnet, £11.99 on a Market 1 or 2 exchange. First 3 months at £5.99 and £28 Quidco cashback available. 10GB monthly cap.
One of the better non-LLU services.
If you are restricted to non-LLU, then your speeds aren't going to vary hugely from one provider to another, the contention ratios are maybe the only variable. So go for the best deal.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I'm in a similar position geographically. I switched from Demon to Vodafone at Home a couple of years ago, because, as I already had a mobile phone account with them it was much cheaper than Demon.
The speed remained very similar to what I was getting with Demon, because basically you're being restricted by the amount of copper wire running between the exchange and your house. So I'd just go with the cheapest reputable provider you can find."The trouble with quotations on the Internet is that you never know whether they are genuine" - Charles Dickens0 -
I agree, try Plusnet0

BE Value is £7.50 a month with a 40gb cap

10gb would last me about 6 hours :rotfl:0 -

But the OP has no LLU provider's on their exchange, so they won't' get this price. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

You are forgetting throttling, Plusnet throttled my connection to a crawl, I left them, my speed shot up and has stayed up ever since.
I would never recommend Plusnet.:(0 -
I'd go to BT. I know they come in for a lot of flack, but that might be because of the fact that they're the main player. However, take their headline rates as a starting point for negotiation and say that you're prepared to sign up for a long Contract. For unlimited usage in this type of exchange I can't really find anything better - or faster. (And I have tried). I'd agree that, for restricted packages, you can do a better deal. Of course, others might be able to give you firmer information.0

Sorry to hijack your thread amcraig but I also live in the sticks and there is no LLU whatsoever at my exchange either. Did you decide who to go with. I amcurrently with AOL but my contract is about to end so also looking around, it is really depressing to see all these 'mega' cheap deals and to find you can't get them cos of your exchange
. I reckon it costs us almost twice as much for broadband but if anyone knows any better let us know!
