windows 7 and canon laser printer

Didn't work in my case though.I'm beginning to think it's a ploy to make everyone replace their printer!
My two are working fine with 64bit W7.
david39, agreed that can work with 32bit to 32bit OS updates, but this is a slightly different problem, it's trying to find drivers for a 64bit system rather than simply updating drivers for a newer OS.I don't have Windows 7 but the same problem arose with the change from XP to Vista.
The solution for that is probably the same in W7.
Open up a window showing the driver software.
Right click on the install file.
Click on the tab marked Compatability
Tick the box marked "Run this program in compatability mode for"
and choose Vista or XP, whichever you previously had the driver running in.
Click all the way out and run the driver.
Can't guarantee it is available in, or works in, W7 but works every time in backwards mode for Vista.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
No thanks for telling the truth and giving relevant advice
64-Bit and quad cores are years down the line for most people
I've been refilling my printer carts for 32 months!0 -
Well i googled a bit and no-one has got this solved. 2 years is a long time in printer terms so don't hold your hopes up for canon to update drivers.
The printer makers really do want you to buy new printers and to buy their inks.
My printer is a nearly 3 year old canon ip5300 -completely obsolete in printer terms ,tho' win 7 64bit drivers are available!! Still refilling the orig. carts.
You could get an xp pc off stuff for sale for £30 ,or even freecycle.
@JGray - I don't have a laptop , I have xp32 bit on my pc -it's what I currently want. I assemble PC's for others too. Intel have been selling quad cores for over 3 1/2 yrs and now everyone wants one? Why don't they all want i7 cpu's? Why haven't they all got solid state drives Who's still using old slow ddr2 memory?
Intel have just released a celeron d/c 45nm cpu which sits in the high end cpu charts here http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html e3300- costs £35. I got one to play with and got it to 3.9ghz. My own cpu runs faster.
This is a moneysaving site isn't it? Intel and MS have to sell products -doesn't mean I need to buy them. Most people are just running old/bread-and-butter versions of things and getting by ok.0
