I would suggest you either phone one of the companies in the weekend newspapers that advertisies number plates or speak to DVLA as i know they do auctions of plates and they may be able to help

Best thing to do is have a trawl through eBay and see what these plates actually sell for. They are often advertised at high prices by dealers but can sell for a lot less. I bought my plate on eBay for £2000 and found it had been listed for £4500 elsewhere.
eBay may well prove the best place to sell as well. These plates are popular with those who like to disguise their car's age and also with coach firms (for the same reason).
    Can I help?

When i sold my plate i done a search on the initials on 192.com, had to pay something lıke 15.00, then sent a letter to each one offering the plate and placed a closing date for offers, actually had 3 people bidding and managed to sell for quite a profit
  • I have a chance of buying a plate with my initials of PFN, the seller is asking £500, is this realistic ?

Given that its a standard N.Ireland plate (UI is the county identifier, G relates to a rough age guide), the chances of anyone wanting it are slim. 10,000 GUI plates out there, and the 1 2 or 3 digit ones will be far more sought after than the 7676.

Same goes for BAZ, CAZ, JBZ etc etc ,all N.Ireland plates. Back in the 80's and 90's you could go along to the vehicle reg dept. in N.Ireland and have your pick of 99% of the available numbers.

It all depends on what the rest of it is.
Obviously 1 PFN would normally be tens of thousands whilst V17 PFN would be around £200. If it's "ageless" (e.g. PFN 123) then it's a bargain.
The DVLA have Y1 PFN (if you're a Geordie) or B1 PFN (if you're that way inclined) plus a few other "1"s for £999. Otherwise they start at £250 for something like A10 PFN. See here for details.

    Yes - because it ageless.

For £500, that sounds REALLY cheap!

If it's PFN then 3 numbers, and no letter at the end (after the numbers), then it's a dateless plate.

£500 is a very good price. You would be looking at £1500+ from a dealer.
