Been reading your thread with interest Lynz. Sounds like youre better off without your lodger. I know the feeling about being gutted that you have to take out more debt but it is for the purpose of moving forward so its not so bad. You have made great progress anyway. Yes, DD is emailing me. Got an email this afternoon. She is in a coast resort called Ao Nang and having a great time. You are right about not being worried but it seems a long way off although it looks really beautiful. Have looked at photos on line. Have to go now, strange noises coming from kitchen. DS is up to something.lynzpower wrote:Hello treasure

Dont worry about your DD, loads of my mates have been to thailand, they were all fine ( once theyd stopped being conned into buying a million sarongs ) and they have all had a great time. Of course you will worry though, is she emailing you? Dont worry if she goes off track for a few days, Ive been places before that dont have one phone line in the whole village, and its perfectly safe. ) and they have all had a great time. Thanks that gives me some much needed inspiration.QueenB. wrote:We moved into our new home just over a year ago and it took us a whole weekend to move as we did it all ourselves and could only afford a tiny van so we had to make many, many trips. Like you i felt ill during it all as the stress just got the better of me. I still look back now and think, never again, although i know we will but next time i hope it goes a bit better:rolleyes:
We still have so much to do, the house is in a bit of a state and what with money being tight i sometimes feel disheartened, but when i think back to where we used to live and all the stress due to the area and neighbours i smile knowing that whatever the problems with this house we made the right choice.
All the best in your new home:beer:The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

My dd didnt have to go as far as Thailand to lose all her money. She got it pinched in Spain last year and her mobile stolen in Scotland!snoozer wrote:Glad things are working out for yoy Tes.
Just wanted to say my daughter went to Thailand last year, I know just how you feel, worst moment was when she rang to say she'd left all her travellers cheques and tickets under a mattress in a beach hut 14 hours away. But she got through it and the Thai people were fantastic, she had a wonderful time and I'm sure your dd will too.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Tes, missed this 1st time round. hope you're lurking and read it!
Glad you're sounding so much more positive than you did when you had your 'what have I done' panic. The area is all, as you've already found out, going home to somewhere you feel safe is so important.
And van breakdown made ME laugh too, sorry :rotfl:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort Mortgage Balance = £0 Mortgage Balance = £0 "Do what others won't early in life so you can do what others can't later in life"0 "Do what others won't early in life so you can do what others can't later in life"0

Thanks folks. I've had a really nasty bout of summer flu so have been feeling a bit down the last few days but things seem to be looking up now. OH has just taken a car load of rubbish to the tip and hes got to make several trips but it seems things are improving all the time. Am getting caught up with washing, ironing and sorting out utility bills. I posted on the mortgage site as £2000 seems to have gone adrift somewhere and its really bugging me but I suppose as somebody said, it will all come out in the wash. Am a bit spooked about DD as got a weird phone call yesterday, an American voice said I've got a call for this number and then the line went dead and they didnt phone back. She has not emailled me since wednesday and the last thing she said was that she was going swimming in the sea, which kind of worried me, undertow, Great white and all that. But I dont know who else it could have been because shes almost the only person Ive given our new number to, so I will feel mighty relieved when I hear from her. I am trying to sort out how much money we actually owe on the ccs but its difficult with this missing money. It seems a lot less efficient than years ago when you were sent a redemption statement after you moved and every penny was accounted for. I think my solicitor is useless and would never use her again ever. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Hmm. From the information I've actually got to hand it seems that the credit card debt rests at £18,580.93, which is not as bad as expected although I did have an all out attack on the cards just before we moved. If we get the £2000 back I will pay it off the ccs rather than the mortgage. Seems like life is going to be a bit of a battle in future with OH straining at the leash to build the loft extension and do up the house. Think I'm going to have to be very crafty to maintain a steady rate of repayment. Oh well, Sainsburys 0% card here I come (I hope)The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
