cheap student possessions insurance

I've tried various sites to find cheap student contents/room insurance for my shared house next year.
The cheapest quote I have is £241. I know this is expensive but I have chosen an extensive policy. My postcode is in area E and I have chosen to have £4000 contents insurance (on a new for old basis) and it also covers walk in thefts which is great for my shared house.
Also covered is accidental damage, laptop equipment to the value of £750, vacation top up, mobile phone cover and legal expenses. Not covered....course fees and items that are taken out of the room (all risks).
Anyone got any tips for any companies I could try that would offer similar terms for a cheaper quote?

Hey I tried endsleigh, cover4students, barclays, hsbc, e and l...maybe some others but I can't remember. Thanks for the article link btw. I tried to go on the saxon insurance website but it just redirects me to cover4students. If you have any other ideas for companies to try then lemme know.0

Personally - I'd look very critically at the 'extensive' cover you're considering. Sounds more than a little OTT when I consider the cover I arranged for my son under similar circumstances? Which I paid just over £100 for - in London.
And check your parent's policy. Discovered my new contents policy covered my son (very adequately) whilst at Uni.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
I'm with Endsleigh and mine is £342 - mind you I do have about £5000 worth of cds with me, so that's probably why!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
