Triton shower bought in Wickes?! Fobbed off?!

Hi guys,
First time in this forum.
Bought a shower 3 weeks ago, had it fitted today (had to get plumber and electrician in at same time) and a button isn't working which selects the heat, so a faulty unit.
Phone Wickes and they say I have to deal with Triton as it has been removed from box and put on the wall - I asked if I could bring just the unit back for a new one as it was broken and they say I have to deal with Triton only, who don't have an engineer avialable until 18th Feb, 10 days with no shower!
The rest of the shower is on the wall, shower head etc so taking all this off would be a pain, I just want a flipping shower that works!
Any advice appreciated?! A fed up showerless Sam

Did you speak to the Manager?0

As above. Make sure you speak to the manager at Wickes, remind him that your contract is with them not the manfacturer and remind him of his obligations under the Sale of Goods Act. You are entitled to a full refund at this stage if you want it. If not I wouldn't accept anything other than a replacement, you must argue that anything else would cause a significant inconvenience.0

As already stated speak to the manager, you might be able to exchange the unit for the same one again, or wait for triton.
These are always awkward issues as you have gone to the expense of someone fitting it, that's why triton do these call outs so they can be fixed there and then so not costing you anything. You might try to see if wickes could hurry up triton a little.
In essence the shop have offered to get it repaired albeit by getting you to do the donkey work. A call to the shop reminding then politely of your rights may get you a swap. These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -

Or you go to Wickes and they call Triton for you and the 18th becomes the 28th....0

You have two options really.
Pay to take the shower off, box it back up and take it back for an exchange, then pay to re-fit it. If wickes won't swop, simply buy a new one, take it home, pay to get it re-fited, then carefully re-package the old one and take it back for a refund.
Or get Triton to come out for free, and fix the shower for free.
Depends on how much you need to enforce your SOGA with wickes, and what you want to pay to do it.0 -
Shower Update:
Wickes are trying to get hold of Triton this morning to see if they can replace unit. I was playing football last night but Lowri (my wife) spoke to manager of Wickes and said it's their policy that because it was mounted on the wall and that it's a 'consumable good' (?!?!) that the contract with them ends as soon as it's mounted and the contract with Triton starts.
Nonetheless, still extremely annoyed about it all. I don't want a product that was faulty off the shelf and I have to wait 10 days to have fixed?!0 -
I'm sorry, he said what :eek:Shower Update:

What a complete load of BS.
Take the thing of the wall, take it back to the shop and demand a full refund, then go buy one from someone else, Homebase usually have deals on Triton showers.0 -
