Sucess at last and my refund has been put back on my card. I had a couple of teething problems because I didn't present the original invoice with F80 to the office issuing the 1510. Make sure you keep the packing note that comes with the items, as it'll save you waiting for the duplicate to be sent. HMC&E have decided that there's a two month time limit on any claim, so make sure you bear it in mind if you're doing a bit of shopping over a few weeks. It seems straight forward and worked for me. If you need any more information let me know. xNearly debt free....at last Roll on July 20100

I forgot to mention that you can fax the 1510 to amazon with the invoices to speed up your refund. The fax number is 0044 2070 847915.Nearly debt free....at last Roll on July 20100

Does anyone know what a 'BFG form 60' would be in Cyprus.?
Also, how are we entitled to the Vat Refund for being overseas?
I know that i can take the ration card down-town and have a VAT refund from local purchases, but unsure on the UK side of things.
Regards,

At my unit we have had success in claiming VAT back by faxing off a letter of receipt on headed paper from the unit signed and stamped. This might help.0

Just in case anyone based outside the EU is reading this - the "email us your details for a refund" route works too.0

Another question,
What does a 'Certificate of Entitlement' look like, and how is one obtained.
Im really struggling to understand this, as i understand that the issued ration card is the key to receiving dutypaid items from the naafi tax-free.

Getting refunds from Amazon: When you purchase items and want to claim the tax back because you re outside the UK:
1. Order your goods.
2. Get a BFG 60 from your BFG/Tax Free office office (it's the same form for importing cars).
3. Send the form off to JHQ (BFG office will do it for you) with a stamped addressed envelope.
4. You will be issued with a Form 80, which is your entitlement form.
5. Go back to your BFG/Tax free office and they will issue you with a completed exemption certificate. Having made photocopies of all documents either fax them off to Amazon (No is on website) or post them. Job done and you should receive an email to say that they will deposit the refund into the account that was used to pay for the goods. Remember that if you bought via Amazon from a 3rd party then you must contact the 3rd party and not amazon. Hope this helps. Go into your local HIVe for help.:rotfl:0 -
Alias - The dramas are only for BFG pax. If you are outside the EU in Gib (are you?) then the old "It has arrived" email is enough.
When I got stuff sent to me on Telic they asked no questions once I sent the email confirming arrival and the refund was immediate.0 -
We are in Cyprus and have tried unsuccessfully to get vat back for recent purchases on Amazon. They said we were not actually entitled to the vat, but because there was a loophole in the regulations they previously gave us the vat back. The regulations have recently been changed so no longer a loophole, so we can no longer claim it back.
We were also told that the forms they refer to for claiming it back can only be used for work related items.
I have heard of someone quoting the regulations off the govt site to them and getting a refund, but not managed to find it to do it ourselves.
If anyone has any more info or has managed to claim the VAT back please let us know.0
