                    Hi there,
I recently paid for a 30" TV, it was delivered to me while I was away and only once I opened the box a few days later did I realise that they'd actually sold me the 35" version.
I took out an insurance policy for the 30" TV, which of course doesn't cover me for the 35" TV.
I have a problem with the TV so need to make a claim, but the shop is demanding I pay the difference.
Can they do this? What can I do?

You should have made this clear at the start when you were happy to TAKE more then you had paid for. All seems good at the time, now its back to bite you.Beneficial Finance £6500 - Cleared July 2010 - Ulsterbank Loan £1500 - Cleared August 2010. Ulsterbank CreditCards £2500 - Cleared July 2011. If the TV is under 1 year old, then it should be covered by a manufacturers warranty, regardless of what the extended warranty covers.
Your problem might be if they ask for proof of purchase and the item you have differs from the invoice/proof of purchase.0

Who makes 35" TVs these days?0

Serves you right i am afraid as you have no recourse.0

Theres this common misconception that if shops make mistakes then its their own fault, like if they advertise something at the wrong price they its illegal to refuse the sale.0

but, once the receipt is given, it is a legal sale. none of this matters, so long as the receipt correctly identifies your tv, you have the manufacturers warranty.

I used to think this, but it's not as clear cut as that - each purchase should be looked at to see whether it is worth it.also, shame on you for taking out additional insurance! its useless! try and use it!
I bought 5 year insurance for a home theatre system costing £50 on a £150 purchase. After 3 years it broke and they sent be £300 vouchers plus a £20 voucher refunding the remainder of my insurance.
Richer Sounds offer 5 year waranties for 10% of the purchase price - definitely worth paying.0
