Not moneysaving of course; just want to know if I am the only one feeling like this.
Just bought my new car insurance and ignored them out of principle. I'd rather pay extra £50 than use gocompare. I think you know why.
I also hope that they use google sometimes and will read this sooner or later.

Go Compare advert voted most irritating of 2009
Interestingly, there is another comparison site (insurance again) and three insurance companies in the top 9.0 -
And think of all this free advertising you are giving them by posting about them here!!
In 6 months time, all anyone will remember is that Go Compare were on one of the MSE forums - something about a naff advert and Google...
I very much doubt anyone will remember that Google supposedly banned them, especially when you consider that if you type "car insurance" into Google UK (uk search) - Well surprise surprise!! look who's top of the sponsored links!!!
I actually rate Go Compare above most of the others as an organisation. Certainly higher than MoneySupermarket or Compare The Market (Budget by another name but still as naff).
OK - so their adverts are awful and they paid to get top of some google lists. So what? What that tells you is that their advertising company need sacking - they were probably responsible for the Google fiasco too. Let's face it; insurance is not the most exciting thing in the world so is probably an advertising firms nightmare client! They probably give the account to the lowest exec they can get away with!
And here comes the usual disclaimer - I don't work for a price comparison site, but as I work in the industry I have had dealings with them (who hasn't). For my sins, I have used a price comparison site in the past, but then bought my insurance via Quidco (another firm I don't work for!).In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -
if you really hated a company that advertised, you would search on google, see their ad, click on it. and then surf elsewhere.
That costs them real money0 -
As someone who actually sings with tenors on a regular basis? I despise that advert. I find it irredeemably irritating, and I would avoid GoCompare like the plague on the basis of it.Homosexual, Unitarian, young, British, female, disabled. Do you need more?0

It's annoying, but so what? If it saves me money, I will use it.
Don't you have a mute button on your remote control or something?0 -
In my opinion they are fantastic. Saves having to call about and generally you will get a top notch price
I was calling about the last time my insurance was due and was being quoted £550-£650 for fully comp
I used Go compare and I got insured for £325 with LVE. Massive saving from using the phone and was really happy with the price
Who really cares about the ad when you can save money?0 -
