    my fella didnt require a counter signature when he sent his off and his picture completely changed, it was returned within 2 weeks no problem

    Provided you have plenty of time in case it is rejected, this would seem a good first approach.

    When I last renewed my passport, I used the Post Office "Passport Check and Send" facility. Only used it to make sure all was well and that it would arrive safely. The guy in the PO said it was not worth sending it as I now didn't resemble my old photo and it would get rejected. He even asked a colleague who agreed with him.

    I didn't think that it was that much different (but then I'm biased). I just told him to put it through the system. New passport came back a week later; no problems.:T

    some one who works for the council is classed as a civil servant, so even down to school cooks can counter sign

    I used a KFC restraunt manager lol, didnt know him atall he just says he did and no questions were asked.

    Is any your mates managers or partners perhaps managers?

    yes countersignatures are wide open, business owners, managers etc.

    I scraped my hair back, took my glasses off, passport office satisfied and - my passport photo looks nothing like me :D

    Not know any teachers or anything, my son's school teacher done my x's even though he had only seen him a handful of times.
