only worry i have as first time i'm moving in a chain is that we havent found something we really really like yet, the areas we want to live are much more expensive than where we are now 
meaning we will need to spend £50k more for a house possibly smaller than what we have

Haha! I know what you mean! I'm currently living in what was my late grandfathers house, which is soon to be sold by my dad and aunt. Its a 6 bed detached in an acre of grounds... outhouses, orchard.... muntjacks springing about....
