Made an offer

Wow. Just made an offer on a place.
Not the first time I have made an offer, but have to say I am so nervous about this one!
Partly I think its because we really like the house, but the asking price is unreasonable, considering what they paid for it in 2007. A big dilemma.
A nervy business indeed!

Anyone who bought in 2007 has a lot of pain to suffer if they’re selling now. They’re probably being optimistic, but the question is how determined are they to get their money back?Wow. Just made an offer on a place.

If you’re the first person to offer low they may refuse, but if you’re the fifth then they may be coming round to reality. Good luck with it!

I know, half of me wants them to decline the offer to spare me the stress to come!
Cant I just hide under the bed?Mortgage debt - [STRIKE]£8,811.47 [/STRIKE] Paid off!0 -
Tell me about it... I am dealing with DRAINAGE issues at the very moment.... I think I will turn my phone and internet connection off and watch a movie instead. Escaping reality might be a good solution is the short term... especially when there is nothing else to do but wait for other people to speak up! :-)0

The main issue is that they have done some renovations. Not all of which add value to the property, IMO, some of them detract from it quite a bit!
The problem is, they wont see it that way and certainly wont want to hear it.
I have a suspicion they are in financial difficulty hence the sale of a half-renovated house. That could act for us if they NEED to sell, but against us if they NEED to recoup their spend.Mortgage debt - [STRIKE]£8,811.47 [/STRIKE] Paid off!0 -
This is a strange time for buying and selling! I have made offers and then been told that they can't accept that because they would be losing money. I then had an offer accepted but it dragged on because I think they thought they could get more money and then they pulled out. Be careful as this is a tricky market but don't offer more than you want to pay but be prepared to compromise. Hiding under the bed works quite well but developing a thick skin works even better!!0

jonewer - we're in exactly the same position! still waiting to hear but are the first to make an offer so most likely will be turned down.
good luck!0 -

Shame. Sometimes you just know it's not going to work. If they're deluded, they're deluded. I tend to treat houses like that like they're not really for sale - they aren't really if the price doesn't reflect the market at all.
There will be something better at the right price. Fact.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
