OK, so maybe cancelling Sky plus was a false economy, because I miss the live pause and record features of my sky plus box.
So can anyone recomend me a freeview plus box? The cheaper the better!

Humax 9300T is IMHO the best PVR on the market, though not the cheapest.
But since the HD Freeview version is coming in a couple of months, you might want to hold off for a while. No free lunch, and no free laptop

He wants "cheap". The HD version won't be cheap. Take a look at Humax's own web site. They sell refurbished receivers at a good discount. I got a 9200T a couple of years ago and it has been excellent with very few "glitches".0

You can pay Sky 10 pounds a month for the recording and pausing live tv facilities.
I do that, i don't subscribe to any tv packages.Oh what's the bloody point...?0 -

The Humax PVR is a wonderful piece of kit.
Cheaper than a years Sky subs, but still quite expensive though.0 -

My daughter is in the process of dropping down to this, she has a HD box in the lounge and a Sky+ box in a bedroom. Will she be able to record on both boxes or just the HD box?0 -
Both boxes can record, but it will be ten pounds for each! (if she wants the recording facilities on both)Oh what's the bloody point...?0

When it come to freeview boxes, I certainly wouldn't go for what's the cheapest. Many cheap boxes (in my experience) have poorly designed menus or slow menus. If your looking to keep the box for a few years, you may find that buying a more expensive box is better in the long run.0
