Why won't Carphone warehouse match e2save? - Aren't they the same company

I can't understand this, I need some info from someone clever.

I've been with Carphone Warehouse O2 for 6 years. I'm currently on their 250 tariff (250xnet/100txt).

The best I got offered by CW's retentions dept was 12mth 250 contract costing £35pm, £150 cashback to airtime account, Double mins & text for 3mnths.

I've been looking at e2save and they have the same tariff with 7mths free via redemption. I spoke to retentions again and they have refused to do any better than their original offer.

What are they playing at? They are the same company! I can't even port my number if I go to e2save because it'll still be an O2 deal! Aaagh!

Flash.

Well, I suppose being the same company IS the reason why they don't want to compete against each other. They are happy for you to walk away and take up a contract with e2save.
Try ask them to match a different offer from say Dialaphone/Phones4u and see what happens.

e2save will earn a huge commission from O2 if they sign you up as a new customer. This commission will be used to fund the 7 months free line rental.

If you go via the upgrade route through O2 CPW then the commission paid to CPW is significantly less. This is why CPW retentions cannot offer you such a good deal.

Port your number to PAYG on another network and then back to O2. It's a simple process and does not take long.

If you want to stay with O2 I would go with mobileshop. They connect direct with O2 rather than with O2 CPW which is the service provider e2save use. I can't compare the deal though because I don't know which handset you are after.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers
