Sorry thanks for pointing that out, I have edited my post now to the Nokia N95. Of anyone can tell me an easy way to unlock this from orange to a three contract phone I'd be grateful ThanksThanx

You just need to call up Orange and they'll give you a (long) code to input. Pretty straight forward stuff this one0

if you're out of contract with Orange - then they shouldn't have a problem giving you the unlocking code - it'll probably cost you £10-15. Otherwise, you can try the market boys - they can usually break the code for you. Personally I would go the operator route first.
Unlocking the phone won't remove any of the branding though - so while you can use the sim without issue, to make calls and text etc. any hardcoded softkeys (like to orangeworld etc.) won't change, you just won't be able to use them!0 -

Is it really that simple, that surprises me I thought they might be reluctant to let you unlock the phone from them to use with another mobile phone company. Is it free of charge?Thanx

I was hoping there might be a way to DIY but if these are the only 2 ways I will have to ring orange and ask themThanx

I'm pretty sure that you can't DIY the N95 - you couldn't when I got mine unlocked anyway. The encryption on these high-end smartphones is pretty sophisticated. I think that it took the market lads a while to get their hands on the right software to do it!
At least if you get it from Orange - you know it's legit. Just make sure that you type the code in correctly, as if you screw that part up - you'll completely brick the handset. (I think you get 3 attempts to put the code in)
Don't worry though - it's dead easy - just double check the code before you hit OK!
Good luck.
