    Ok - try this.

Double click on the Hijack this icon
You will be presented with a number of options. Fourth one down - Open Misc Tools or similar.
Under System tools you should see open host file manager.
Click on open notepad and copy and paste the contents here.

Thanks ... had a blonde moment and didn't recognise this as link!

What's the mention of Firefox about though in red? I have IE8, so will it work with this and is it worth trying?

Do you use Firefox or even have it installed?

    If yes run it.
  • i know this sounds ridiculous but it cant be "BING" forwarding can it?

if they are just using IE, could it be bufferoverflow, theres a lot of proggys running there

im just throwing ideas up guys...its along time since i did this stuff and aint au fait with the latest trash that infects...it appears to me to be a polymorph type thing which suggests the reg...but it could be spawned via the registry...or hopefully by the hosts file(spybot can replace hosts file easily????)

........ except on bleeping computers and p.c. won't let me get to it!

Hear what you are saying but they are being blocked from visiting legit Security Sites - Bing wont do that.
  • as this man says

try using a different brwoser...(firefox) if it lets you in its likely to be a BHO or similar otherwise its the hosts file....unless its a damn mutating !!!!er, which can be found out by killing stuff i task manager....please let these guys sort it, im just thinking out loud in the hope i might help or give an idea...so please just follow their logical processes

I would suggest that if it won't allow the op to get to Bleeping Computers then online scans will be blocked too.
  • thats a fair point.....is it worth doing netstat-a via run command to see where its going or am i being paranoid?
