Mine are in a drawer because my mum said she saw on a TV programme that said it's easy for a burgler to grab one if he sees them on display. I can't get this out of my head so they're never on display incase I get burgled by a burgler who decides to stab me because he's grabbed one of my knives on the spur of the moment.0 -
Blade up, in the kichen which in my flat is the furtherest room from the front door so no real chance of a burglar being there to grab one.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Same reason me and OH have just agreed to not have ours on a rack :eek:0 -
Blades up and facing left at my bf's house
My knives hand from their handles, but that's not from a magnetic rack.0 -
blades up, otherwise it'd be too easy to catch yourself myself on the blade reaching up & over for the handle
also it's what I'm used to & I dread to think what might happen if I was working in a kitchen with the knives arranged the other way
facing left too, apart from things like palette knives
I don't have a block because they take up valuable working/counter space, also I like to see exactly what knife I'm reaching for ... I have a lot of knives0 -
Mine are also blades up and facing left

I don't want a block on the counter as there isn't enough room in one for my knives. A magnetic knife rack is no good as I have very beautiful glass splashbacks. There is no way I'm having holes drilled in that!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I could NEVER trust myself to have sharp knives in a drawer, they're sneaky ruddy things and I reckon I'd have a finger off eventually. Any way, if I had them in a drawer I reckon they'd get blunt and me plus blunt knives together are more dangerous than sharp ones. Same reason knives are never immersed in the washing-up bowl round here. I need sharp blades in plain sight where I can keep a beady eye on them.0 -
You shouldn't have knives lying about - or even use them - during the forthcoming Chinese New Year, or you could accidentally cut your "chi" and therefore your good luck for the entire year! The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

Is that just one day to avoid knife usage Stephen?
Can`t afford to risk any more bad luck than I already have!0
