which way to point knives on a magnetic rack?

Options
Sorry this is a bit of a pathetic question. Which way up would you store knives on a magnetic rack? I have googled looking for an answer but have found some say handle on top and some handle beneath.

What do you wise folk think please? The rack is above the worktop so no fear of knives falling onto feet or owt.

When i had one of these I had them blades up, as I found them easier to take off the rack securely like that.

  • LOL...by way of contrast, we have one and store knives point down so that there is less chance of impaling your arm on one!

  • I'd position them the way I would want to grasp them easily, so points up and blades facing left as I'm right-handed. Knives are tricky things so I'd rather have them in a knife-block with the blades safely stowed away out of harm's way. I'm the clumsy type so me and knives are a menace
  • Up - its easier to grab the knife in a hurry. Useful for those instances when there are young louts breaking into your garden shed..etc.. you can just grab and wave :D
  • Thanks to all for your replies. I think I`ll try them blade up facing left and see how it goes ( wall cupboard above so not likely to impale anything.......fingers crossed).

I have my set with the handles down, and the blades facing left-into the wall (except the left end knife which is bread knife-which faces right as I caught my finger on it once taking tongs out of utensil jar! They are ultrasharp global knives so ouch!

Mine are in a block because if they were on a magnetic rack on the wall, they'd be too easy to grab when I'm in a temper! :rotfl:

Blades up and facing left here too, it's just a matter of what suits you best.
