    There won't be much in it on depreciation, but the depreciation costs of the Focus will be lower. Reason is the Focus lost a big chunk of it's value year 1, it has less left to loose now. The Golf held more of it's value from year 1 so still has more value to loose.

    If you are down to a short list of 2 I say go and test drive both of them.

    have you considered a Jetta, we bought one as I was to tight to pay the extra 2 grand for the golf when it was less than a year old. wife had originally wanted a golf but was glad we got the Jetta as soon as we bought it. excellent car, good MPG and a huge boot, slightly better spec than a golf as well and good to drive.
