Cashmere Cardy - Stale Smoke Smell - Thanks Mr Seller!

I've just bought a thick cashmere cardygown from ebay and received it yesterday but its stinks of stale smoke! (its spose to be brand new with tags). I've tried to lay it out flat but every room I put it in I can smell it as soon as I go in. It is clean, it just stinks!!!! I don't want to have to wash it yet. Any suggestions? I'm about to have a hot bath with loads of lush products, if I hang it up in the bathroom will it help de-stink it ? Sorry to sound thick :o

yes that should do the trick...or maybe it will just stink of lush products and fags too...best thing to remove the smell without washing would be to treat it with ozone:money:

Would a good spraying of Oust do it.

and Im sorry, but if it stinks of smoke, its not clean,
someone has worn it while smoking, took it off, then flogged it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Or it's been in a smokers house. I don't smoke but after staying with my smoking friend for a week everything I had smelled horribly!!
I personally wouldn't class it as new in that case, you could maybe ask for a partial refund seeing as how it's not as described? But I'm not sure if smelling of smoke counts as that? If you feel strongly enough about it then I'd contact the seller.

  • Thanks everyone. I might contact the seller & check the auction page properly as i might have been pre-warned.

Not necessarily worn it, but maybe hung it up to photo it, whilst smoking:eek:

TRYING hard to be a good money saver
  • If item doesnt say its from a non smoking household its always best to ask.If they have stated it is, i would ask to send it back for a refund,as it wouldnt be as described. Its a bit of a pain as its cashmere but dont think you will totally get rid of a smokey smell without washing.

Febreze will not get rid of the smell. (My dad was a heavy smoker - even inside my computer smelled when we opened it up! Four years after he died things stored in his room still pong.) You need to wash it in Woolite in the machine on a delicate wash.
