Think its dependent upon the application (usually java files), if the developer enables the backup feature or not. Otherwise you need to have a copy of the java program file used to install the application (which in many cases if you download an application, you will not have).0

If it is a S60 phone any native apps (usually installed with a .sis or .sisx file) are included in the backup along with any of your data associated with them. Same with the widget applications which are installed with a .wgz file. The Java applications I use (Opera Mini, essentially) are backed up as well however as OneADay has mentioned this can depend on the application.0
