Sky In Reading Berkshire

Just about to move into a new house, where we can finally get Sky.

Had Virgin for the last twelve months and its been nothing but stress!

I've noticed on the Sky website installation is quite high, I've been told that getting someone local to instal Sky is a lot cheaper.

I am after the TV, internet and phone package with a standard box, can anyone suggest or recommend someone to install everything in my new home in Reading, Berkshire.

Sky want to charge £30 for the box and installation, £39 for the line rental set up, we don't have a current phone line in the new house, as we previously were with Virgin as part of our package plan. Is this a decent price?

Any advise would be much appreciated! :o

    Hi
If you do not have a dish on site then you are not going to get an independent to supply / fit / wire one for £30 let alone less.
  • Ok good to know, thanks.
  • Right spoke to Sky its going to cost me a total of £118 to instal.

    £49 for the box
    £30 installation
£39 to connect my phone line

Is anyone else in the Reading area doing it cheaper, I want to sign up to the tv, broadband and phone pack, with a Sky telephone line, or will I have to get Sky to do it????

    Join online

The HD boxes are free, the installation is free.

So it should be £39 in total now. There might be a way around that as well.

Also, you should get £25 M&S voucher for online join up or £65 from Quidco.

If you use Quidco and online signup Sky will be paying you! There is an option on the signup page for "i do not have a phoneline" which then takes you into the £39 fee screen.

Or if you don't want HD use the quidco to offset the rest of the deal.

  • They told me the HD boxes were £49 unless I wanted HD Sky, which I don't.

What I don't understand is how will I know if they need to connect me to a phone line or not? Im moving into a new rental house, and the tennant has already moved out.

If there is a phone line already in the house, then isn't it just a case on connecting up to that?

You need a working line, if the tenant has had the service disconnected then it will need reconnectng, unless you pay the £20 surcharge to Sky to avoid the need to connect the box to a BT line for the 1st 12 months.

  • How can I tell whether I'll need to do that or not before paying out the £39?

Speak to the tenant or agent?
Have you been quoted £39 to install a new line, or for reconnecting an existing line?

  • £39 to install a new line I believe, if I plug in my handset to the existing plug and it works, does this indicate that I just need to get set up with Sky, and pay there £11 a month?

Depends who the existing line is with.
