I'll only correct you if you post inaccurate or misleading information which I feel is important enough to bring to the attention of fellow posters.

Imagine BA was £50 cheaper on a route than bmi, but a family chose to fly bmi based on your inaccurate comment that "BA lose more bags than any other airline in the EU. ". On a family of 4 that could mean £200 saved.

    Everyone makes mistakes sometimes. :money:

To be fair there isn't much it and BA are still worse than Virgin:

And that is per 1000 pax so not to skew the results :)

BA lose 15.6 bags per 1000 pax
Virgin lose 4.9 bags per 1000 pax

I think the results are skewed anyway as BA have far more passengers than VS, so there is a greater potential for things to go wrong. Furthermore, not all airlines have identical baggage allowances, meaning 1000 passengers could mean 2000 bags with BA, but only 500 bags on Ryanair.

Still about 1%, which isn't exactly criminal!

But 1000 passengers is 1000 passengers when all is said and done.

Fact is BA lose more - Much more about 3 times more bags than VS.

Bag loss per bag carried is the only way to compare airlines, which you aren't doing.

All irrelevant, as you now concede your original remark was incorrect. I don't deny that BA lose more bags, but the fact is that BA have 10x as many passengers to look after.

I admit, i am bad at maths - Genuinely. So you might have a point in what you're saying, i really don't know.

But what i do know is that if BA carried 1000 people, then about 15 people would end up losing a bag, if those 1000 passengers then flew home with VS then 5 people would end up losing a bag.

I think you both have it wrong. It is not the airline that loses the bag but the handling agents, IE the airport where your bag either gets on or gets off of the plane. granted that the airline takes responsibility for any lost luggage, but they do not lose it, it doesn't fall out of the plane while in mid air.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

...and your post contributes what exactly (aside from dragging up a dead thread?)
    Genius.
