I have had more help from my GP than any Psychiatrist! The G.P. seesm more clued up, think its his particular intrest.

Social workers, G.P.. shrinks, mental health people its a nightmare! The thing is even in my area nobody updates anybody!

an example. I was jagged in the butt to sedate me in one hospital. Was released and my muscles were rigid. Could not speak or move my arms, legs were a struggle to move. Days pass I go to G.P. He had no idea I was 1 Sectioned. 2 sedated 3 what I was jagged with!!

When I apply for DLA I rattle down EVERYTHING! Get right into it. Then hope I don't have to go through things like what is being spoken about. Give them enough then they dont need to approach the 'mob' for ''professional opinions''. After all it is an opinion. God my G.P. has no idea regarding me nor my previous shrink. They dish the drugs ask questions I get through the days.

I feel the same about my GP who is absolutely clued in to mental health problems. Also is very fierce with DLA. I'm a single parent of a 14 year old and once was ordered to a lone parent meeting even though they're aware I have social agrophobia and get very upset. He was on the phone to them in front of me within minutes saying he would advise me to take civil action if my health suffered because I was forced to go into a situation that would be detrimental to me and that he would be the first one in the witness box. lol I don't know what I'd do without him. Never charges for letters for me and is a godsend.

What a refreshing change to hear someone praising their GP.

There is a space on the DLA application form for someone who knows you to write - or that person can write a letter to be attached to your claim or appeal. You now have one month to appeal the decision and I would suggest you contact your local CAB or local governent Occupational Therapist either of which would be able to help with an appeal and request the ocial worker to write a report on your health problems.

I have nothing but praise for my GP too, I am only sorry that he is not one of the partners. He does exhaustive testing and always asks who I'd like to be referred to when it's necessary. He has even agreed and accepted when I've told him that I've had enough and am sick of consultants using me as a guinea-pig :o.

We've now reached an agreement that, when he feels I really need to see a consultant, I will see one but apart from that I'm happy to either let him deal with the situation or just cope with it. For some things there just isn't a solution - much as we all might like one, but I know I can rely on my doc to do the right thing and be honest in his dealings with me.

just off the phone to dla for about the millionth time. A full review of my claim was done on friday and a decision was made which they have wrote to me about. They couldn't tell me the decision over the phone and now just have to wait for the post. if i get it i will be back dated to the 30th December. Going to be a bundle of nerves now, don't have the emotional or physical energy for a full appeal, so will keep fingers crossed

got my letter this morning!! Have been awarded middle rate care and low mobility. Back payment went into my account today. So glad. Just goes to show that you need to fight for it.

Well done! Its good to hear of a success story. I have just sent in an appeal. I can only hope that when they reconsider it prior to a tribunal I get a good result like you.
