oooooooo Lauren your bridesmaids dresses are great I need to find mine Im also having purple too

I am a bridesmaid in June, and my best friend got our purple dresses from Debenhams (well she is getting them this weekend, I gave her the 20% code!), and they are lovely!

I am loving all the dresses, I can't wait to go shopping for,I am waiting til after the summer though, I am in the process of losing weight as I dont want to be a bride the size I am at the mo! I would look like a marquee at the moment!

Ive no idea what alterations are going to cost, cos no one can give a price until they actually do them (crafty arent they).

Thats because they dont know exactly how long they are going to take to do. Do you get a price from the garage when you take your car in to be serviced/repaired? Why should dressmakers be different?

Ok, calm down. I was only saying.
And actually yes I do get rough quotes from the garage, as my dads a mechanic he can tell me roughly how long things will take him and roughly the cost (as hes done so many cars over the years he knows how long things will take). Much the same as I thought a dressmaker might work. They should know roughly how long certain things take, eg taking hems up. So therefore a rough price, then if it takes longer I would pay the extra.
I dont begrudge paying them at all, its a service I need, but a rough price would be nice, as it is I have absoutely no idea if it will be £20 or £120, thats a big difference to me as I dont know what to budget for!
  • The woman doing my alterations explained why the cost could be between 45 and 130 pounds when i explained what sort of dress it was andwhat i wanted doing...eventually cost 90 but i agree, some times its helpful to have a ball park figure

a monsoon dress, originally £180 was £50 from ebay, or this:

From a monsoon outlet store and was reduced from £200 to a bargainous £30!

    Which one gets your vote?

Bikyboo, I think the top one looks the nicest, although they are both very nice, the top one looks like it would be more flattering. Both very good bargains though!
