Upset about rude message from restaurant

If this is how they treat you before you are in their premises, why assume that their service on the occasion will be any better?0

why dont you go to the restuarant and find out what is going on0

Thank you everyone for your advice. I got so annoyed at not being able to get through on the phone that I sent another message through their table booking enquiry system to the effect that regretfully as they were willing to treat me with such disrespect, I would be cancelling the booking.
I shall quite happily take my custom and my money elsewhere. You would honestly think that in this economic climate businesses wouldn't be doing silly things like chucking away goodwill and custom by being so rude to people. They have disgusted me with their appalling lack of good manners and customer service.0 -
There are loads of restaurant review sites. You can always leave a comment on those. I hope you find somewhere nice for your special occasion.0

I've come across a couple of restaurants that will only accept bookings on parties of something like 6 people or more. I was wondering if it could be something similar.
Any less, and you are expected to turn up 'on spec' and arrange a table for when they're likely to fit you in based on the current demand and larger bookings.
We often get a couple of changes in who's available between when the booking is made and the night in question. In such situations, we've usually just booked somewhere else, that's happy to be a little more flexible.
Sounds like you've made the right move in going somewhere else.0 -
still reckon you should name and shame0

Well rudes your version of it. What they have done is guaranteed a higher spend per head/table which will make them more money. Thats whats businesses have had to do in the current economic climate to survive. The ones who haven't done this will have struggled. You can't always assume that their decision isn't the best business decision. Businesses despite what their customers think will more often than not know whats best for their survival.0
