Can anyone please confirm if i am correct.
If you are registered disabled you are entitled to be treated the same without discrimination. So you get your entiltement to drive withdrawn by the DVLA.???? You then get the offer of a free bus pass, but to many not able to take this up, as our jobs start before the hours it covers. So you are been discrimanated.?? Point is that when you have a seizure are you meant to be left alone whlst your partner has to trail for the car. You cant even get a blue badge. Never mind the horrible looks by people when they see you on the pavement, I dont think I will have to explain anymore to people who suffer from seizures and their relatives.

Are you saying that epileptics should be able to keep their licence regardless of whether the condition was controlled or not?
I thought that once you could prove that the epilepsy was under proper control you could get your licence back. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

You have to be fit free for a year before you can get your licence back. If you have another fit within that year, you're banned for a further 6 month. (or 10 in my dads' case)So you get your entiltement to drive withdrawn by the DVLA.????
If they can justify it, it's not discrimination. So, if they believe you're unsafe to drive and can justify it, they're not discriminating against you. Other peoples' safety comes first.
It's like I'm banned from driving because of my vision. The DVLA can justify by this, because their rules state that you have to be able to read the number plate from a certain distance - I can't do that.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I think shes saying that they take your licence away (quite rightly imo) and give you a bus pass. However as it cannot be used before 9.30 its not much help. With Sparkles! :happylove And Shiny Things!0

They can by law remove the right to drive and anyone who doesnt surrender their licence is a fool.
The bus pass i have gives me free travel after 9.30am and all weekend. Before 9.30 mon-fri i pay a flat fare of 80p
I dont see any discrimination, and btw playbingo there is no so such as being "registered disabled"and hasnt been for some years now, being in receipt of DLA has replaced this.
My seizures are quite frequent and severe and have meant for 12 years now I havent been allowed outside the front door on my own, something i have to accept for my own safety,0 -

You're lucky. When I lived in Plymouth, I had to pay full price before 9.30am. Unless I had my college pass with me and I was getting a designated bus - in which case, it was free.I dont see any discrimination, and btw playbingo there is no so such as being "registered disabled"and hasnt been for some years now, being in receipt of DLA has replaced this.
For viusally & hearing impaired people, the register still exists.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

yes it varies from area to area e.g we also get free off peak local train and tram fares, and yes local authorities still keep registers for visually and hearing impaired people thats true0 -
It's not discrimination to have your driving license revoked and not be given an automatic blue badge. If that was the case everyone under 17 would get a blue badge as would those who just can't afford lessons, people who are barred for things other than medical related etc. You get your bus pass even if it doesn't work in the mornings, the best place to complain about that is to your local council who run the scheme not on an internet forum crying discrimination.0

epileptics(people with epilepsy)thanks,.
My dictionaries define an epileptic as a person with epilepsy. Therefore my words were quite correct.
