seems british telecom is no longer british
while not wanting to sound racist, someone from an overseas call centre just rang askin for the missus.
told her she wasnt in so she proceeded to discuss the account with me. no security questions. no verification. nothing. told me i was late paying my bill and a charge of £5 had been added. making the total cost of calls since the last bill.....................£5.
after obviously reading from a script she then proceeded to ask if there was anything else she could help me with.
this is just barmy and needs to stop.

What a joke, look into the data protection act, this sounds like it might be in breach of it, and I would certainly put a complaint into BT about it.

BT hasn't been British Telecom for quite a number of years0

to say im amazed is an understatement. no matter what i said she didnt grasp. its one thing training them to read from a bleeding sheet but its another trying to get a problem sorted. they just dont understand. fair enough ive got a broad yorkshire accent. but still i think i was rather clear with my explanation that if i had paid a bill and the balance was zero then no late charge should be billed. she didnt grasp this. insisted i setup a direct debit about 3 times before i told her that i had to go remove something from the oven.0

was it your head?? It's just that talking to some of these call centre automatons can be a depressing experience and make you feel suicidal LOL0 -

for all its worth it might have well have been. theres only so much you can tolerate when trying to resolve an issueWe'll have problems when the Samaritans outsource then
they'll start fitting these phones to the inside of ovens just in case. the same phones they put at the BOTTOM of beachy head. the mind boggles0 -
Why Should'nt They Raise A Charge Of £5. You Were Late Paying Your Bill And They've Had To Chase You! You Should Be Thankful They've Taken The Time To Call You And Not Just Disconnected Your Service! If They Had Disconnected You, The Charge Would Hae Been More Than £5 From Reconnection. Its Nothing New, Why Should Customers That Pay On Time, Have To Pay Higher Charges, Due To Bt Incurring Additional Costs Chasing Customers That Don't Pay. And It Doesn't Matter If Its An English, Scottish, Irish Welsh Or Asian Person Who Brakes The News, At The Enf Of The Day Pay Your Bills On Time! The views expressed on this website, be they in text, pictures or sound, are my own personal views. Not those of my employer, its staff or colleagues.0

Our local news up here in Durham gave an insight into another trick BT are trying to pull.
A pensioner was on there saying that they refused to pay their bill via direct debit and paid via cheque whenever the bill arrived. BT have announced that people who don't pay via direct debit are now going to be charged extra for cheques! This lady was mortified. Unless it is a big mistake and even the evening news have taken this info on board then BT want hanging out to dry for this one. What a cheek charging somebody extra money for paying their bill.
Heard it all now.0
