O2 insurance : Found original iphone that I've received a replacement for..

Hi Folks,

A couple of weeks ago I was out drinking in town, got rat-arsed and eventually got home and to my bed (would like to state this is not a regular event in my life!).

Upon waking up couldn't find my iphone anywhere, tore the house apart trying to find it but to no avail, called O2 who blocked the phone. Two days later I got a replacement iphone through the post via O2 insurance ( they say you can only judge an insurance company when you make a claim and they were superb (quick details, claim approved on phone and phone delivered to where i wanted it and at the time i requested)).

Yesterday I was clearing up my It stuff and guess what I found?

Yup the old iphone :o

I'd switched it off before going to bed and somehow managed to throw it behind my computer.

I'm gonna be calling O2 to tell them about the phone being found again and was just wondering... will they ask for the new phone to be sent back? Ideally this is what i want as the new phone can't be jailbroken properly (techie stuff) and the 'old' phone is only four months old anyway.

Or is the old iphone shafted as they sent a signal to it to block it (as an aside, the phone has yet to recieve this signal as it hasn't been switched on since being reported as lost)

And will I still be charged the £25 insurance claim fee?

Surely you'll get some help/credit for being honest? I'm sure a fair few people would just take the sim out of the old iphone, switch it on and use as an ipod touch...

I would just phone up and confess all. You made the claim in good faith and I am sure they will understand.

Where you stand re which phone they will ask back and whether you will pay the feeI don't know. Just be carefull the next time you are out:D

I was careful mate, had a good time, didn't cause any trouble and i got home safely and to bed.

    Didn't lose my wallet/phone anything

(Well Ok, I did lose recollection of the last two hours ..... :rotfl:)

Anyone have a clue re the return of phones/money with o2 insurance ?

I think it works the other way round, the old phone becomes their property after the insurance claim and if you find it you are supposed to return it to them.

I'm sure somebody will find a way to jailbrake the new one sooner or later!
