another favour: would anyone be willing to look at the various lovely corned beef hash recipes on OS and pick one which could be adapted to fit the asda list and post the linkie for me? I'd be very grateful! I think Mrs Macawber's is very popular :)

In a rush, so can't help in-depth here, but to save someone else trawling, here's Mrs Macawber's Corned Beef Hash Recipe. At a glance, and not having the time to refer back to the shopping list, I'd say you'd have to dump the dumplings, as it were, and get rid of some of Mrs Mac's veg ?

My version of corned beef hash goes like this: boil and mash potaoes, stir in corned beef, chopped onion and boiled carrot chunks. Bake til crispy.

thanks Potty:D, I hope we can come up with something to collect the feedback!

    :D:D

    Ok...
I say we give the survey thingy a try :o
If it works, and answers all your questions that you need then :j:D
But, if it's not gonna work, then we need to know sooner rather than later... and find another box to look outside of, and mucho more sore chin :think:ing's :rotfl:

Nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that :D

If I found out how the surveying works, set it up, and posted a link here to the survey, would everyone that has tested a recipe be prepared to go to the survey, answer the questions, and give it a go ?? :o

    Thanks..
    Potty

Hi Weezl, is the months plan anywhere near being able to see?

I must admit to fairly bursting with curiosity to see what our family will be eating. I can guess some of the main meals from your testing list, but would love to see the rest if it is in a state to be seen

Oooh, I have just seen Lesley's Chickpea Crumble on the meal list - goes away blushing with pride

Just thought you might like this, it's a version of my corned beef hash / stovie pie from 1999 - check out the price of a decent tin of corned beef! :rotfl:

The cheaper version is similar to Allegra's, but skip the part that involves baking it in the oven to save on power. :D The ingredients cost about 3 times that amount now, so that would be a luxury meal nowadays!

Sorry, still trying to catch up, pardon the spontaneous interuptions. :o

  • Potty If you can handle all the complicated sounding survey stuff i'd be more than prepared to go answer it :p

I have my frugalised chickpea curry on the go at the moment, will report back later if it's nice :)

I actually could not agree more with Sian's comment, nor to the answers to your own questions Weezl. :T
Both counts echo my own feelings, in a massive cave, with a loud speaker :rotfl::o

This thread is soooo energetic, and many persons wish to voice their own part in it, which is fantastic, and I find it very refreshing.
But it does make it rather problematic to figure out any definitive results of any tests conducted.

I am still uncertain of a way forward to collate the very different results for all the variations of the recipes, other than a specific survey for each recipe, which could ask any questions you wish it to.
I know this is a faff for testers, but at least everyone is answering the same questions for the same recipe, thus giving you a standard benchmark which to improve on.

Does anyone else know of a way this could be done to make it easier for Weezl's thread, thus destressing Weezl? :(

I was wondering whether we might have some sorta mini-Forum of our own (similar to the Nonnymouse Forum or summat - that originated in MSE). With that - we could have a thread for each specific recipe and a general thread for comments on the thing as a whole. I'll just toss that thought into the pot for consideration

(errr....and theres the fact that we would be totally free of any & all restrictions being "off-grid" - ie off MSE;):)).
