I would like to keep going, and apologise for causing the bother over the pasta dish name, and will try to keep to the plan whilst weezl is 'away'.

Frugal living has become a bit of a way of life for us in recent years but things are definitely tougher so I am enjoying learning ways to get closer to subsitence living.

Oh I don't think you caused a bother! I think 5nations didn't mind us funny old brits with our misspellings/and creative Italian ;)

I'm ever so glad you'd like to carry on, and I'm particularly glad the plan is helping a bit, and you are helping it a lot. :)

From DH's work at the moment, I am learning that there is a type of research being done now which is called 'action research' since the early 90s.

It's where research is done by/with the group it intends to help, and which has a particular aim to affect policy.

I think we are all part of the group we are trying to help, and all have our dire moments financially, and ultimately we'd like to see some policy changes.

So I really like the idea that this action research can continue, even when I dabble in a spot of maternity leave!

Heck, I'll come back and you'll have finished it off and Bob and Shirley will be thrilled and made up :)

"Eat your heart out" - Felicity Lawrence

from the blurb on the cover it sounds like it will help "stir up my memory" as to why....

    "Who decides what we eat?
    - how are corporations shaping our bodies, our minds and the future of the planet?
in just half a century, our diets have completely changed. Now a handful of ingredients, some of them barely used as food before the war, crop up in everything from baby food to cat food to processed meals. What happened? How did corn, soya, sugar, palm oil and factory meat come to invade our diets? "Eat your heart out" is an expose of how big business took control of what hundreds of millions of people consume - and how few of us even noticed......"

Hmmm...sounds like my sorta book I thought to myself:D.

I have been tempted by your baked bean recipe on your blog. I think my family may find that a step too far as they do like the fact that I keep tins of baked beans for lunches and late night snacks. And always the cheapest I can find:)
I freeze my baked beans in old cream pots and then when I need them I just turn them out into a pyrex dish and microwave. I use my own recipe but I imagine it would work just the same with weezl's.

I saw that on your blog but haven't checked it out yet. What's her stance?

I should be in bed but we have a bacon and onion suet pastry roulade baking in the oven for Bob and Shirley and I can't go sleepies til it's done (9.45) :rotfl:

Sometimes DH and I are enjoying being Bob and shirley and other times it's a bit tricky!

Mmm.. maybe I should have a sneaky try.

I was going to suggest testing to see if they notice then realised they will notice the lack of tin when they make their snacks!:rotfl:A blind test is called for.

ETA weezl , I have made the bacon and onion suet pastry for my hoard (sp?)and they asked for it again. I made it with onion gravy the second time.
I don't know how you manage to keep up with all the cooking. At this stage you must be shattered.

Just noticed your other post too. Thank you, it is fascinating for me meeting like minded people, and the research is all really important for so many. If it just helps a few it is worth it. And if you can get policy change all the better.

this is the last time I updated, but still way out!

Potty are you able to start any survey making while I just find the latest version of each of these? Or will that hold things up? I can do a bit tomorrow morning :)

    xxx

I was just double checking Weezl, as I know some of the recipes had been altered slightly...
Although the ones I have done tonight, are the same ;)

But to be honest, it really doesn't make any odds, as the first question on each survey, is what "post number recipe did you use ect ", so I am sure I should be able to work out from there what the differences are when I need too :D
I am early shift over the next few days, so I might be able to get a few more done at nights.
If you could list or pm me what needs doing from the other place, I will do those too, whenever you get a chance, no rush. :D
    Hope this is okay :)

Thinks...maybes I should have a memory refresh with "Nourishing Traditions" too....I have the book....(just recall having slight problems with the fact that it came over rather meat-centred...difficult for a veggie like me...)...If I remember aright...I think I made a decision at that point to get "raw" milk - but have not been able to find any in this country (though I regularly used to have it abroad before now)..:(

.....errr...wondering if theres any books I DONT have by now...:rotfl::rotfl:

From the longer existing surveys, the cauliflower cheese and the pasta puttensca still have no responses :(

I am not sure if this is because they have not been made by anyone, or, they have, but didn't realise there was a micro set of questions related to it.

    Weezl

Coulda sworn I stashed a Nourishing Traditions blog somewheres on one of my two public blogs - thinks: better go searching my private blog - see if its there somewheres

(BTW - if anyone ever thinks "private blog - oh yes...I was the mysterious anonymous person who asked to access said private blog and got refused - please do let me know who you are - as I think I know and I hope I'm wrong....I'd like it to be a "friend" that was trying....:)).

    Anyways - I found:

    http://thenourishingcook.com/

....right...;I'm for bed too....nightcap of hot milk & honey with a touch of nutmeg coming up.....

    ..night all.....
