Thank you all
Taka and QOS, I see your points, well made!
You are all very supportive and I totally know that no-one wants me to give up or feel despondant, and I shall take that on board.:D
One of the things I'm learning, is that this started out for me as a mission the only important thing was the goal. But now I think the journey has become something very intriguing, fun, full of new knowledge, new and old friends. And that's very valuable.
I think we're all posting on here because it also helps us in some way to help Bob and Shirley, and that's really important
I hope no-ones worried about me, I'm doing all this because I want to and I know this is a forum where folk will speak their mind, and I love that. There would have been private ways to go about this if I didn't like it if people disagreed with me, but I deliberately didn't choose them. I wanted to hear opinions, and I'm really glad I have
On a different front, we had a friend here for a meal, and the onion tart, chutney and breakfast pancakes put in an appearance and went down very well
I'm working tomorrow so might not have loads of time to post, but do please keep sharing thoughts, recipes, banter etc etc...
It's all fab and I'm mega touched to have your company along the way. Especially since it must seem I am darting hither and thither somewhat randomly at times

I've been looking at Avocet's list of what is left in the stock-cupboard.
If we take a tin of the tomatoes, water, 2 carrots, an onion, 2oz of pasta, and some of the dried peas I think we can have ourselves a Minestrone soup of sorts.
What about a potato and pea curry as we seem to have plenty potatoes and peas left? Or if we could spare some of the 10 remaining eggs a tortilla or fritatta with peas and potato?
What about a cheese and potato pie (no crust, the sort we used to get at school) with some green beans and carrots. There is also one with pastry on the hairy bikers mum's know best website that just uses oil and self raising flour.Sealed pot member 735

really? I don't think I knew that about you! How bizarreI totally never thought you'd give up meat and treats to avoid 2 cuppas with milk powder
Have you been hating your cuppas at my house?

No I dont hate cuppas in your house - wet and warm but as a preference (unless at the allotment) will always go for fresh milk...soreeeeRe the meat I dont have it that often and think actually its more a treat now-a-days - free range meat aint cheap and since discovering that piggies also need to be fr now will have it even less lol!!
Pasta with butter and black pepper is also one of my fave meals..bet you didnt know that either eh!! see woman of mystery me!

Interesting musings on budget...I cant quite decide what camp I fit into yet.
On a less frugal note can I ask a question for a Cardiff contingent...is the Cardiff train station near the Millennium centre at all? If not how far away is it approx.

There were 30 in the box, weren't there? That leaves 10 left to play with, unless you are changing the frequency of these recipes or reintroducing the pork and apple burgers, which were the only other recipe to involve egg. It's about 1.5 miles to the bay where the centre is, but you can get a connecting train to Cardiff Bay station which takes 5 mins and is then just 5 mins from the millennium centre

Cardiff central station is literally over the road from the millenium stadium..few mins walk! hth ooo edit is it the sporty stadium you want or the one in the bay?!! Sporty one couple mins walk and other one more like half hour, bus, train or (date I say it!!) taxi ride!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1!
